This week we tried to discuss about the use of one computer in a classroom and about learner autonomy. Both the topics have been very interesting and thought provoking. I believe learner autonomy is the first thing a learner needs to be able to pursue any type of learning. It is like a pre-requisite for learning.
To talk about one computer in a classroom is really brilliant idea because not everyone has the luxury of a computer each for her/his students, at least here in India.
I am fortunate to have digital boards and a CPU in almost all my classrooms, this makes experimenting easy and teaching and learning have become fun.
My one computer classroom lesson plan is also a fun activity that helps promote quick-thinking and structure analysis.
The next thing we did this week was to find a partner for our final projects, my partner is Miguel and I decided to comment on Miguel's blog this week but unfortunately there's no post on his blog , so I'll have to comment on someone else's blog. So I have commented on Bonjana's blog.

Hi, Cherry
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your ideas on my post.
You are right saying that not everyone has the luxury of having a computer in classroom. When a teacher is decided and learners interested and motivated, a lot of good work can be carried out with useful feedback.
And for a project, we have learned so many things that would help us in our future work in the classroom.

Hi, Cherry!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you on learning strategies being a pre-requisite for learning. It's like having a car but not being able to drive it because you haven't been taught how to do so. I think there's a saying "it's like giving a knife to a monkey", well, it might be a Venezuelan saying. It just came across my mind when writing about driving a car.
Miguel.-
Nowadays, I believe that computers and mobile phones are the ideal tools to promote learner independence/autonomy. We should also give them the right strategies to do better on all of the language skills and on taking tests as well.
PS. I sincerely apologize for not having published my posts in advanced. I'm back on track now and I'm going to be working on my project these following two days. By the way, on the wiki (partner sign up section), I suggested to use google docs for a more interactive peer correction for our project drafts.
